In the first place, we can say diapers, sanitary napkins and patient diaper manufacturers. There are around 50 nappy manufacturers in our country. It is estimated that these manufacturers have approximately 200 under-waist nappy machines. Approximately 2.5 billion nappies are produced in our country. The commercial size of this figure corresponds to approximately 500 million dollars. P&G, the world’s largest diaper and sanitary napkin manufacturer, is seriously weakening the domestic producer with its giant global power. For this reason, in the last 2 years, Turkey’s domestic diaper brands have been having a hard time. We have been interviewed on the subject.
We received positive feedback from Molfix, Molped, Pedo, Evy Baby, Evy Lady brand managers. The production and integration of the device into the machines will not only relieve the domestic market, but will also cause our domestic brands to have a competitive advantage abroad. There are approximately 1500 diaper machines in the world. Although there is no clear data on sanitary napkin and patient diaper machines, there is always a sanitary napkin and a patient diaper line in such facilities. There are currently 250 diaper machines of the Prima brand of Procter and Gamble Company in the world. Kimberly Clark Company is the second biggest brand in the world with its Huggies brand. There are 200 machines producing Huggies in the world.
The reason for the start of our project is to make the Atmospheric plasma device, which is not produced in our country, to meet the requirements in many sectors at home and abroad. The outputs obtained as a result of the studies carried out, application and literature studies were carried out on the subject and the necessary data were collected for construction.
As a requirement of the project, 40% to 50% savings in glue costs and 30% to 40% savings in SAP costs will be achieved. (The tonne of SAP raw material varies between 1000 and 1300 dollars in the markets. 1,5 kg SAP is consumed in 1000 diapers. In this way, approximately 600 gr SAP will be used in 1000 diapers.
In this case, a profit of 400 USD per tonne will be made. In addition, there will be a significant cost reduction in transport and storage costs. The tonne of glue used in cloth processes is around 3000 dollars. A cloth weighs between 1 gram and 13 grams depending on its size. A 1200 machine uses 1 kg, 200 gr glue per minute. If a saving of around 50 per cent is made in the use of this raw material, half of the cost savings will be achieved in the use of glue in the processing. In addition to this, a serious saving will be made in transport and storage costs.
One of the biggest problems of nappy production is the so-called rewet problem, which is the problem of leaving the absorbed liquid back and irritating and irritating the skin. The main task of SAP raw material in nappies is to trap this liquid and turn it into a gel when possible. Therefore, SAP undertakes a critical performance task in such nappies. When the SAP raw material to be subjected to plasma treatment is cleaned from surfactants, it will turn into a more active raw material and the liquid permeability rate and capacity will increase even more. This situation will increase the performance of SAP in the process and will ensure less SAP consumption.
